2019 crop failure. We are working diligently to ensure we have ample stock for next year's growing season.

Once established, Jerusalem Artichoke is very vigorous and can produce large yields if thinned and given a chance to spread. It's typically propagated via tubers, and availability of seed is generally very limited largely due to their dormancy, which is still not well understood. Seeds are most often used in breeding new varieties. Naturally low and variable germination, as well as tuber characteristics and yields should be expected. Also known as sunroot, sunchoke, earth apple, and topinambour. Please do not purchase seeds with specific germination requirements unless you are able to provide the proper conditions.

Germination Naturally low germination rate. Scarify or remove seed coat before cold/wet stratification for 60-90 days. Variable and irregular germination. Germinates best at cool temps.
    Zones USDA 4-8
    Life Cycle perennial
Uses edible*(roots), medicinal*, utility (biomass, alcohol)
Notes Helianthus tuberosus seeds can be difficult to germinate and are typically used in breeding. Jerusalem Artichoke is most often propagated via tubers. Variable traits should be expected. Please do not purchase seeds with specific germination requirements unless you are able to provide the proper conditions.
Breed Status OSSI Pledged VarietyContains some genetics originally bred By Bill Whitson
