    Also known as Spindle, European spindletree, European spindle, and common spindle. Perennial in USDA zones 3-7. These seeds are uncleaned and contain some dried berry remnants. 


    Habit/Size up to 20 feet tall
    Germination Stratify (warm) for 60-90 days then stratify (cold) for 90-120 days. Sow seeds 3/8 in. deep.
    Requirements Tolerates most soil types and pH levels. Prefers moist soil and full sun, but can grow in partial shade. Medium water needs.

    Harvest Bark, most often root bark, is typically used medicinally. Fruit, leaves, and seeds have been used externally to treat parasites. The entire plant contains oils used for making soap. Berries can be used as an insecticide and paraciticide. A yellow dye is made from coating around the seeds. Roots contain a rubber-like compound used in insulation and other industrial applications.
